Grammar

In May 2013 an English Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling Test was introduced as a component of the Standard Assessment Tests (SATs). This will remain in the new testing framework which begins in 2016.
Again using texts as exemplars, we explicitly teach these skills and concepts to pupils. Children are then required to apply their learning to a variety of situations which will often include both more traditional style exercises and, of course, their own writing.
