ADMISSION TO HERNE BAY JUNIOR SCHOOL
Our aim is to establish a happy and caring community where children will quickly feel secure and eager to learn. It is our hope that parents will feel able to share in any of our activities. Our joint effort should then ensure that pupils have the best possible opportunity to enjoy school and make excellent progress. We are a four form entry school with excellent facilities, including a large playing field. We are very proud of our school and welcome all prospective parents to come and have a tour with our Year 6 representatives and an informal chat with Mrs Kingman.
In Year Admissions
If you wish to transfer your child to the school, please contact the school in the first instance to establish whether there are any spaces available. If there is a space for your child, you will then need to complete a Primary In Year Admission Form. This is available from the school or you can download it from here together with information and guidance notes.
We are usually able to accommodate most applications but in the event of over subscription the following criteria will be applied:-
Statement of Special Educational Needs (SSEN) / Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP)
Looked After Children/Children in Local Authority Care
Attendance at a linked school
Sibling/Current Family Association
Medical / Health and Special Access
Nearness of children’s homes
Parents who are unhappy with an admission decision can appeal, in writing to either David Wilkinson or George Smart, Co-Chair of Governors c/o Herne Bay Junior School, Kings Road, Herne Bay, Kent. CT6 5DA.
Admission Form – Before your child starts school you will be required to fill in the Kent County Council Admission Form (JCAF or In Year) and our own School Admission Form. We will also need to see your child’s birth certificate or passport.
