Student Feedback

I have recently completed an 11 week placement with Herne Bay Junior School. Throughout this experience, I received the most supportive, welcoming and respectful environment. All the pupils and staff treated me as part of the school community. I highly recommend the school, and massively thank all the staff and pupils. I feel I have received the most beneficial experience and learnt far more than I could have ever expected, which has largely supported me in my teacher training.

I have just completed a seven-week placement with Herne Bay Junior School. This school has inspired me and developed my confidence as a teacher massively and I cannot thank the staff, the school and the pupils enough for this. Herne Bay Junior School is such a friendly and welcoming environment that makes everyone that walks through their doors feel comfortable and part of a brilliant and respectful community. The mentors I had during my placement were incredible at supporting me throughout my teaching journey as well as my journey as a person. I have developed skills and knowledge throughout this placement that I will carry with me throughout my whole teaching career.

A letter from Mr English to his class

As a lead partnership school with CCCU, we were recently visited by colleagues from The Gambia. These included 2 Principal Education Officers for In Service Education and Training, a Director of Early Childhood Development and Inclusive Education and a Vice Principal. Accompanying them was a representative from World Bank, which supports and funds education and training across the world.

The purpose for their visit to Herne Bay Junior School was to gain an understanding of our work with CCCU to mentor students and how students are mentored by teachers. The visit provided the colleagues with a chance to observe how a mentor meeting is structured. We were honoured to be able share our successes of our mentorship programme with them and also to hear of their experiences of teacher training in The Gambia.
