Welcome message from the Headteacher

01MrsKingmanWelcome to Herne Bay Junior School. We are a four form entry junior school with approximately 485 children on role. We serve the town of Herne Bay and have strong links with Herne Bay Infant School where most of our children begin their school life.

Driven by the strap line ‘One Chance, Let’s Get it Right’, the school’s vision is deeply rooted in its motivation to provide a first-class and personal experience for every child. We want our children to be recognised for their individual talents and achievements. We want them to shine in confidence and be inspired to develop new skills. We want them to experience new challenges and be enriched with opportunities to enhance their learning.  Most of all we want them to be the best they can in all that they aspire to be.

Strong and steady leadership and governance is a key feature of the school’s success; the school is led with clear vision and direction. It benefits from stable, committed teachers and support staff who are highly trained, skilled and motivated to provide learning opportunities that ignite the children’s enthusiasm. A carefully considered curriculum is designed to meet the needs of all children and is enhanced by considered and relevant enrichment opportunities that go beyond the classroom.

Inclusion is at the heart of the school. It is led by a team of highly qualified and experienced practitioners who are dedicated to ensure that all children are well equipped for future society. Our young people are prepared to be good and honest citizens, able to form opinions and make decisions based on their ability to listen and engage appropriately with others.

A successful school relies on partnership and understanding with parents and the community that it serves. This website is intended to contribute to this partnership. Please do not hesitate to contact us or, better still, come and visit and 'feel' the school for yourself.
