Welcome message from Headteacher

01melodykingmanWelcome to Herne Bay Junior School. We are a four form entry junior school with approximately 485 children on role. We serve the town of Herne Bay and have strong links with Herne Bay Infant School where most of our children begin their school life. Our website includes up to date information about the events that are taking place as well as providing an insight into the daily life in school.
Herne Bay Junior School is ranked as number 8 out of 410 primary schools in the 2016 Kent Real Schools guide. Our 2017 SATs results continue to support this achievement with 86% of the children attaining the expected standard in all 3 subject areas; Reading, Writing and Maths. This exceeds the national average of 61%.
We want our children to be recognised for their individual talents and achievements. We want them to shine in confidence and be inspired to develop new skills. We want them to experience new challenges and be enriched with opportunities to enhance their learning.  Most of all we want them to be the best they can in all that they aspire to be.
Our strap line ‘One Chance, Let’s Get it Right’ reflects the vision of the school where the children, their parents, teachers and support staff work collaboratively to ensure that the best outcomes are achieved for the children during their time at our school. We provide a rich and varied curriculum delivered by dedicated, enthusiastic and hardworking teachers. Our support staff are highly skilled and are integral to the classroom learning environment. Classrooms are a constant hive of activity where the learning is linked to engaging topics that provide the context for the children to apply their skills.
A successful school relies on partnership and understanding with parents and the community that it serves. This website is intended to contribute to this partnership. Please don't hesitate to contact us or, better still, come and visit and 'feel' the school for yourself.
