The After School Club opened in 2010 and has become a very popular after school childcare facility. Our waiting list is growing.
The club is run by our staff members Mrs Katie Clark Extended school clubs supervisor, Miss Jemma Amos, Mrs Paula Smith, Mrs Sam Deacon, Ms Alison McKee and Mrs Abby McMahon.
The children are provided with a wide range of activities each afternoon, these include, Board games, Arts and crafts, Role play, Puzzles, Xbox and Wii games, Pool and outdoor games with Football, Skipping, Bikes and Scooters.
We also have a home work club from 3-4pm where the children can sit in our quiet room and complete any home work they may have. This is only optional. At 4pm, the children can sit and relax while watching a film. All films are of a Universal rating. A snack and drink are also provided during each session. We have a great selection of sandwiches and wraps in the spring and summer seasons. Sugar free Apple, Orange and Blackcurrant squash are offered as their choice of drink. Children can of course opt for Water. Our ‘weirdo’ drink is made up of 2 or all 3 squash cordials. This has proved very popular with past and present children.
During the autumn and winter seasons, the children also have the extra option of Hot Chocolate. The food choices in these seasons are 1 of 2 daily choices from Noodles, Spaghetti Hoops, Baked Beans, Soup, Toast and Crumpets. Fresh fruit is also set out at snack time daily, all year round. We serve snack between 4pm – 4:30pm. If your child has food intolerances or different dietary needs, please speak to Mrs Katie Clark.
The after school club runs from 3pm to 6pm Monday to Friday, term time only, at a cost of £6.50 per session, per child and is to be paid in advance. We are able to accept childcare vouchers such as Eden Red, Computer Share, Busy bees Benefits and Fideliti. We are Ofsted registered and our parents can claim up to 70% of the cost for childcare provision through the tax credits scheme. Payments are also accepted as cash or cheque to be made payable to Herne Bay Junior School.
