Message from the Headteacher

Welcome to Herne Bay Junior School!

Sited in the centre of Herne Bay, our school is rooted at the heart of the community we serve. Supported by our links with Herne Bay Infant School, we build respectful relationships with our families so that the children experience a successful journey through the primary school years.

Driven by our aspiring vision, we aim to provide a first-class and personal experience for every child. We acknowledge their time at HBJS as being part of an educational journey and recognise our responsibility to ensure they are adequately prepared for their transition to secondary school.

We want our children to be recognised for their individual talents and achievements; we want them to shine in confidence and be inspired to develop new skills. We want them to be motivated to approach new challenges and to be well-equipped in times of adversity to overcome any fears. Ultimately, we want them to recognise that learning is a life-long pursuit of knowledge and skills that open new doors and offer exciting opportunities.

Strong and effective leadership and governance is a key feature of the school’s success. Led with clear vision and direction, it benefits from committed teachers and support staff who are highly trained, skilled and motivated to provide learning opportunities that ignite the children’s enthusiasm. A carefully considered curriculum is designed to meet the needs of all children and is enhanced by considered and relevant enrichment opportunities that go beyond the classroom.

Inclusion is at the heart of the school. A team of highly qualified and experienced practitioners are dedicated to ensure that all children are well equipped for future society. Our young people are prepared to be good and honest citizens, able to form opinions and make decisions based on their ability to listen and engage appropriately with others.

A successful school relies on partnership and understanding with parents and the community that it serves. This website is intended to contribute to this partnership. Please do not hesitate to contact us or, better still, come and visit and ‘feel’ the school for yourself.

We look forward to welcoming you.
