Physical Education (PE)

Our PE statement,

‘At Herne Bay Junior School we believe that all children should enjoy physical education and sport. Through physical education and sport we aim to improve health and well-being and promote active participation in a range of physical activities, in a safe and supportive environment.’

For the 3rd consecutive year we have been awarded the School Games Silver Award for our commitment, engagement and delivery of competitive school sport in 2017/18.
Through the two hours of PE teaching a week, we aim to develop children’s ability to work effectively in a team, understand fair play and ensure they are able to demonstrate good sportsmanship. Our PE curriculum covers a range of activities through invasion games, gymnastics, dance, athletics and swimming all of which focus on developing the children’s basic skills within PE. For example, refining techniques to improve performance develop agility, balance, and coordination and demonstrate positive attitude, confidence, engagement, perseverance and motivation.
It is an expectation that all children have the correct necessary sports kit for the activities and weather that they are participating in.
