School Council Trip to the Houses of Parliament
On Thursday, members of the School Council travelled by mini-bus and speedy catamaran to the Houses of Parliament. In two small groups they were given a tour of the Central Lobby, St Stephen's Hall and Westminster Hall. They walked through the Votes for Women exhibition and learnt how the role and value of women has changed drastically over the last 100years.
Following the tour, we returned to the education centre for a workshop. The children solved riddles to identify how the power of the Monarchy and Government had changed over the last 800years. The children gained an understanding of their own power as they grow up in a democratic society rather than if they had been alive during King John I's reign.
The children represented the school well, and it was noted by a member of public how well behaved they were. Well Done Herne Bay Junior School Council!
