Seaside: Photographed – a Coastal Alliance Photography Exhibition
What is it like to grow up and live by the sea today? As part of Children & the Arts’ Start Programme, Turner Contemporary has worked with Coastal Alliance schools to explore this question through photography and local history. Over 450 children and young people across schools in Whitstable, Herne Bay and Reculver have taken inspiration from The South East Archive of Seaside Photography (SEAS), examining how people lived and spent their holidays by the coast in the past and reimagining these to capture the seaside from new perspectives.
Herne Bay Junior School, as part of CACoT, were very fortunate to have taken part in this amazing art programme. Led by Turner Contemporary, this latest project, SEASIDE:PHOTOGRAPHED, features an incredible selection and collection of photographs taken by children - photographs of such a high standard, that when you view them, you will need to remind yourself of the fact that they are the work of children!
The exhibition runs until 23rd June 2019 at the Turner Contemporary in Margate.
