Our children have been using their artistic skills to put the sparkle back into Christmas and help light up our town for the festive season. Herne Bay Junior School became aware that there was a fundraising initiative to raise money for the Christmas lights and immediately wanted to find a way to support it. Mrs Kingman said “we don’t want our children to miss the magic and wonder of Christmas that the town lights provide. Christmas is about children and families giving and receiving and who better to raise this profile than the children themselves?”
This Tuesday morning, fifteen lucky year 5 and year 6s spent a fascinating couple of hours exploring the exciting world of the Marlowe Theatre. The theatre was in full swing of the touring production of War Horse. Narrated from an unusual perspective, Michael Morpurgo’s War Horse tells a powerful story of humanity and friendship that touches people of all ages: in 1914, Joey, a young farm horse, is sold to the army and thrust into the midst of the war on the Western Front. With his officer, he charges towards the enemy, witnessing the horror of the frontline. But even in the desolation of the trenches, Joey's courage touches the soldiers around him.
We are pleased to say our enrichment programme for 2017/2018 is now complete and has been sent home to parents. Mrs Amos has been working hard to organise exciting and diverse opportunities for our children and as you look through the programme you will see some new additions which include a trip to Harry Potter World and School of Rock! Letters to parents will follow throughout the course of the next academic year to apply or register an interest in some of the opportunities we have to offer.

We are proud to present our new School Representatives for this year. The children will be supporting and representing the school at a number of events throughout the year.
One of their key roles is to guide visitors to the school on a tour where they ably and eloquently share their knowledge and answer questions with confidence. We are sure that they will take on the role with pride.
