A Fantastic Night at the Theatre

The Drama Club’s contribution to the production of Julius Caesar at The Marlowe Theatre in Canterbury was a roaring success!  The children had been working hard in rehearsals and this was evident in their confident performances on stage. On the actual day of the performance, the children had the opportunity to rehearse the technical aspects of the play with the live projection feed of the ghost of Caesar, props and using the steps that were part of the staging.

World Pi Day

On Wednesday the 14th March 2018 Herne Bay Junior School celebrated World Pi Day with a competition to see who could memorise and recall the most digits of Pi. Children from across the school came and all performed impressively.

However, every contest must have a winner and this year there were two! Oscar (5JW) and Sienna (6AT) were awarded joint winners, recalling Pi to 112 and 116 places respectively- an incredible achievement. Both were deserving winners, showing great determination, competitive spirit and sportsmanship. During our Friday celebration assembly, the pair amazed pupils and staff by jointly recalling Pi to over 100 places.

Congratulations and thank you to all the other children who took part in the competition: Riley (4JN), Amelia (4AR), Euan (4AR), Aston (4JN), Kalise (4LS), Amy (4PP), Charlie (5JW), Rudra (5CK), Alfie (5JW) and Arib (5JW).

An Inspiring trip to School of Rock The Musical

On Thursday fourteen excited children set off in the minibus with Mrs Amos and Miss Black, London bound to see the musical ‘School of Rock’. The journey took us past some of the famous London landmarks which the children eagerly pointed out, finally we arrived at Drury Lane in the heart of Theatreland.

A swift photoshoot outside the theatre took place before a steward came to collect us, he took our ice cream order and then showed us inside. We had fabulous seats in the stalls where the children didn’t to have to wait long before the show began.

Mrs Amos & Miss Black loved watching our children’s reactions as the young actors performed before them, playing instruments live to such a high standard, it was so inspiring.
