Year 6 leaver Service HBJS 2023 - Finale Farewell

Year 6 leaver Service HBJS 2023 - Finale Farewell

Yesterday we had our Leavers Service at Christ Church, William Street, with Reverend Anthony. This was a very memorable service with the Year 6 best memories shared with their fellow friends and families. The service included some special end of year trophies and medals to those who have shone in certain subjects and as individuals.

We hope that the children’s time with us at HBJS has been a pleasurable, educational and memorable time and we wish them all the very best on their continued journey through secondary school.  They will all be very missed!

Wish you a lovely, safe and happy summer from us all here at HBJS.

HBJS Parent & Child Campout

Last Friday evening, HBJS had its first Parent & Pupil Campout with 10 family's attending.

Pupils and their parents arrived at 6pm to set up their tents, followed by the children giving them a tour of the Forest. Whilst this was taking place, Mr Hobbs was busy cooking dinner for the groups on the open fire; this included Rainbow Trout, Salmon, veggie kebabs and veggie sausages followed by S’mores!

Forest games included Pick-up Sticks and Dolly & Sally. After dark, the children explored the forest with their torches before heading to their tents for lights-out.

In the morning, they enjoyed a breakfast of muffins and pancakes, cooked on the open fire, with plenty of coffee for the weary parents! It was then the turn of Peggy & Stacey, our resident pigs, to be fed!

The weather was perfect and great fun was had by all. We hope to hold more Campout nights like this next summer!

HBJS Summer Fair 2023

HBJS Summer Fair 2023

Last Friday, we held our first Summer Fair since COVID. It was a great success and such a joy to see so many smiley faces with parents, staff and children having fun.

We are very grateful to the families and staff here at HBJS that donated items for the fair and to those who took the time to bake cakes and bring in lots of treats for us to sell. We thank everyone for taking part, especially the children who designed and ran many of the stalls.

We made a whopping £3,351.45 in total, all of which will be used to buy additional resources for the children in school.

We look forward to next year’s Summer Fair!

HBJS DEFIBRILLATOR NEWS

HBJS NEWS

A few weeks ago, we were kindly nominated to become the recipient of a brand-new defibrillator allowing access for community use.

On the 25th May, Jane Hogan and Rebecca Bernsten, from Technifire Solutions, delivered this to us. We are extremely happy and proud to have this vital piece of life saving equipment on our site and will be mounting it outside the school for use by any member of the community should an emergency arise.

Green News

Let’s Go Zero is a national campaign that unites teachers, pupils, parents and their schools to work together to be zero carbon by 2030. They have recognised the hard work that our school has put into our green projects and has requested that we would agree to be one of only a few schools on their website showcasing our green credentials and projects. It’s only a little bit about us but it’s a great achievement to get on their website and hopefully we will be an inspiration to other schools and communities around the country. Please check out their web site at www.letsgozero.org and our school in particular is here. Herne Bay Junior School, England. - Lets Go Zero
