Year 6 Victorian Day
On Monday the children in Year 6 got the chance to take on the role of a Victorian school child. By the end of the day, the children experienced needlework, botany, created zoetropes, recited their times tables and the Lord’s Prayer and finally they used a quill and ink for handwriting practise.
The teachers portrayed Victorian School mistresses and masters; a bit of a shock for the children if they think we are strict now!
The activities formed part of their work towards their Tides of Change topic and the work will be on display at the end of term Great Exhibition. As part of the end of day discussion, the children were able to make comparisons between the teaching and learning methods and the variation in rules.
