Kip on a Ship!
On Monday night 15 children were taken by Mr Blake and Mrs Prichard to stay overnight on board HMS Belfast in London, via the school minibus and a trip on a Thames Clipper.
Once aboard the ship, the children took part in a number of practical events: designing their own ship's mug and flag and a private night time tour of the ship.
They also slept on the actual 'mess deck' and bunks that the sailors had used and were lulled to sleep by the noises of the ship moving with the tide and the sounds of London around them.
The next day saw them assembling their own museum exhibitions of artefacts that belonged to men who had actually served aboard the ship. This was followed by a trip to the Tower Bridge, including the rather strange experience of walking over a glass platform which looked down over the road over the bridge and ships passing along the Thames- scary!
They returned, tired but happy, with a wonderful experience that I am sure they will remember for the rest of their lives.
