Commonwealth Games Gymnast Courtney Tulloch Visits the School

On a wet and windy Monday afternoon we were very fortunate to welcome Courtney Tulloch to our school to deliver an assembly to the children following his gymnastic success in the Commonwealth Games. Courtney previously came to the school two years ago and spoke to the children about his dreams and aspirations for the future, so we were very excited that he agreed to come back and update the children.

Courtney competed in the rings and vault final as well as the team event in Australia. The team won gold after competing on the various apparatus which was a fantastic start! Courtney then went on to the rings and once again after a faultless routine won the gold medal for Team England. Finally the vault final loomed and Courtney  performed a superb vault and gained a silver medal to take his tally to three medals in total.

The children were in awe when Courtney allowed them to hold his medals and many of them wanted to try them on! There was a great question and answer session where Courtney gave the message to the children that anything is possible and to follow your dreams, just like he did. Two lucky children won

t-shirts signed by Courtney, he then gave a fantastic demonstration of his gymnastic skills which included him diving over two children, a teacher and our Headteacher Mrs Kingman! The children came away having been well and truly inspired with the knowledge that anything is possible.

The following day we were so pleased to receive a phone call from a parent who informed us that her Year 3 son wanted to find a gymnastics club following Courtney’s visit. We are so lucky that so many inspirational people are willing to give up their time to enrich the lives of our children by telling their story, something we will always be grateful for.
