An Inspiring trip to School of Rock The Musical
On Thursday fourteen excited children set off in the minibus with Mrs Amos and Miss Black, London bound to see the musical ‘School of Rock’. The journey took us past some of the famous London landmarks which the children eagerly pointed out, finally we arrived at Drury Lane in the heart of Theatreland.
A swift photoshoot outside the theatre took place before a steward came to collect us, he took our ice cream order and then showed us inside. We had fabulous seats in the stalls where the children didn’t to have to wait long before the show began.
Mrs Amos & Miss Black loved watching our children’s reactions as the young actors performed before them, playing instruments live to such a high standard, it was so inspiring.
During the interval our ice creams were delivered to our seats which was a bonus, a few more photographs were taken and then the second half of the show started. This had the children singing, clapping, dancing and cheering. A standing ovation by the whole theatre drew the show to a close. The children were beaming, I don’t think any of us wanted it to end.
As we went to leave Mrs Amos had a tap on her back, four retired teachers were had been sat behind our children, they wanted to say how impressed they were by our children’s behaviour and said they were a credit to our school. How lovely! We are so proud of them.
A quick visit to the gift shop, then Mrs Prichard was there in the minibus ready to take us back to school. Our return journey took us past the Cutty Sark and the Maritime Museum, who knows this might be a future trip!
We shared our experience on our twitter feed and to round off a wonderful trip, Dewey the lead character responded to a tweet saying it was great to hear we had enjoyed the show! A perfect end to a great afternoon of enrichment for our children.
